How I'm Testing Website Flipping as a Side Business - Real Numbers, Real Sales, Real Mistakes

The Context: Why I am testing Website Flipping
Two years ago, during an ADHD hyperfocus period, I bought around 10 domains for website flipping. I didn't really know what I was doing, but I ended up with some quality expired domains with good backlinks. Fast forward to today - I've now sold 7 websites for over $2000 in profit.
The thing is, I need multiple income streams that don't require constant attention. Website flipping seemed perfect - buy expired domains, add content, sell for profit. But I wanted to test if this actually works as a real side business, not just a one-off success.
So here we are. Me, expired domains, Flippa listings, and a lot of trial and error.
Stop Letting your Failed Websites
Rot !
Turn those abandoned domains into $200-$1000 cash with my "Ditched to Sold" system. I've flipped 7+ websites I thought were "failures" into actual profit.
This is the EXACT process I use to sell websites I'm done with - no more guilt, no more waste, just profit from projects you've already started.
Turn your abandoned websites into cash
What I'm Trying to Achieve
The Problem I'm Solving
I want to create a predictable side income stream that generates $1000-2000+ per month without needing daily attention.
Traditional advice says "start a blog and wait 2 years." I'm testing if website flipping can create faster results.
My Goals for This Expereiment
I have 4 standard goals for this website flipping business:
Generate $500+ monthly profit within 12 months
Create a system that works with my scattered attention
Prove this works for regular people (not just tech experts)
Document everything so others can replicate it
Key Insight: The money isn't in building websites - it's in buying the right expired domains. A $12 domain with good backlinks can sell for $450+ with the right content strategy.

August 23, 2025 - Draft System Working: About to List Another Site
What Actually Happened:
The draft listing system is proving its worth! Going to make one more listing live this week. Having the listings pre-created during motivated periods means I can just click "publish" when I need sales, without the mental energy drain of creating everything from scratch.
This is exactly why the system works - the hard creative work (writing compelling listings) is already done when my brain was in the right mode.
System Update: Ready to publish listing #2 from my August batch
What This Proves: Separating creative work from publishing decisions removes friction from the sales process.
August 16, 2025 - New System Test: Draft Listings Strategy
What Actually Happened:
Bought 2 new expired domains today and immediately created 2 listings in draft mode.
This is my new system - do the hard creative work (listing creation) when I'm motivated, then just make them live when I need sales.
I always make sure I don't have too many listings live at one time.
Sell one website, then work on the other to sell.
The Numbers: $20 for 2 expired domains with existing backlinks.
System Innovation: Separating listing creation from listing publication = game changer for my ADHD brain.
What This Taught Me: Batch the hard work during motivated periods, automate the easy stuff.
2025 Reality Check - The System Gap
What I Discovered:
This year I've only sold 1 domain but acquired 2-3 new ones. There are domains from last year with content created but I haven't made them revenue-worthy (no AdSense setup).
The problem: even though my team works on content, I depend on my hyperfocus periods for domain buying and selling decisions. Sometimes I'm totally hyperfocused on other projects for a whole month and website flipping goes off my radar.
The Numbers: 1 sale in 2025, 2-3 acquisitions, multiple half-finished sites.
ADHD Reality Check: I forgot I had lots of domains ready to sell AND forgot that selling domains means I need to buy more.
What This Taught Me: I need systems that work even when I'm not paying attention.
The Golden Era - My Flippa Success Run in 2024
What I Did:
After selling my first website (Creative Delights for around $205), I realized this could be continuous revenue.
Since I had 10-15 websites ready to be sold, I started selling them systematically and learned a lot about buyers and what they want.
Here are my actual Flippa sales from the screenshot:
1. Creative Delites: $205
2. Baby Huddle: $450
3. A Heart Full of Love: $450
4. Love and Tomatoes: $270
5. Online Pregnancy Info: $250
6. 2k crafts: $250
7. Innovative Passive Income: $270
What This Taught Me: Once you understand what buyers want, website flipping becomes predictable income.
The Big Mistake Period
What I Did Wrong:
Here's the mistake I made: I sold EVERYTHING and then bought new domains again. The problem is new domains need time - adding articles, increasing SEO, fixing broken links, making them revenue-worthy with AdSense.
After I sold everything, I didn't have anything to sell immediately because I had to start from scratch. The continuous income stopped because I was creating new instead of having inventory ready.
The Numbers: Lost 3-6 months of potential sales while rebuilding.
ADHD Reality Check: This is classic ADHD - not thinking through the pipeline consequences.
What This Taught Me: Always maintain inventory. Sell 1, buy 1. Never sell everything at once.
Tools I Used
Flippa: Primary marketplace where all my successful sales happened
Expired Domain Research Tools: For finding domains with good backlinks (my secret strategy)
My Website Flipping Manager: Team member who handles content creation when I give direction
Google AdSense: Making sites revenue-worthy before selling (buyers want proof of income)
WordPress: Standard setup that buyers expect
Draft Listing System: Create when motivated, publish when needed
What I've Learned From flipping 7+ Niche Website Flipping Projects
I may have learned this the hard way, but here's what actually works for neurodivergent entrepreneurs...
1. Hyperfocus Buying Strategy
What I'm learning: When I'm in hyperfocus mode, I buy 3-4 domains and immediately hand them to my manager with content creation instructions.
How I adapted it: Don't fight the hyperfocus - channel it strategically, then delegate the follow-through.
Real-world application: Bought 2 domains today, immediately created team briefs for content development.
2. The Pipeline Problem Solution
What resonated: You need inventory ready to sell while developing new inventory.
What didn't work: Selling everything at once and starting from scratch.
My takeaway: Always maintain 3-5 sites in different development stages.
3. Listing Creation Breakthrough
What I discovered: Creating listings requires lots of mental energy but making them live is just clicking a button.
How this changed everything: I create listings during motivated periods, save as drafts, then publish monthly.
ADHD advantage: This separates high-energy creative work from low-energy maintenance tasks.
4.The Team Delegation System
What works: I handle strategy (domain buying, content planning) and my team handles execution (content creation, basic SEO).
Why it's essential: I can't depend on my focus lasting for months of content creation.
The system: Give clear content briefs during hyperfocus, let team execute while I work on other projects.
5. The Simple Tech Stack Rule
What doesn't work: Trying new technology during active profitable website flipping projects.
ADHD lesson: Analysis paralysis hits hardest when there are multiple "perfect" solutions.
My solution: Stick to proven tools, experiment with new tech between niche profitable projects

4. "Good enough" launches beat "perfect" delays: Every successful profitable website flip launched imperfectly.
5. Interest-based niches prevent abandonment: Pick topics you'll still care about in 6 months of profitable website flipping work
P.S. Section
If you're an ADHD entrepreneur sitting on abandoned websites or curious about profitable website flipping but worried you'll just create more "unfinished" projects, my "Ditched to Sold" system might be exactly what you need.
This isn't theory - it's a proven profitable website flipping process I've used across 7+ acquisitions, with multiple successful sales for $200-$1000.
The key insight? ADHD entrepreneurs are actually perfect for niche profitable projects because we get excited about new ventures, and this business model works WITH that pattern instead of against it.
